Quality of life means focusing on the whole community in order to ensure safe neighborhoods, a prosperous business presence, and a welcoming feel for those visiting Rowlett!
Lake Ray Hubbard
Rowlett has a number of amazing amenities, but none are more valuable to us than Lake Ray Hubbard. I am committed to taking necessary steps to expand the community’s access to the lake. During my term as Mayor, I will propose further development of our paddle trails and the addition of access points for both small and larger watercraft. Furthermore, lakeshore life would not be complete without a pier on which fishers can cast their line, so I will work with City of Dallas and Dallas Water utilities for ways to add piers at strategic points in/around parks throughout Rowlett.
Rowlett Community Centre
Perhaps one of Rowlett’s most visited public facilities is the Rowlett Community Centre. Nestled behind Rowlett High School and next to beautiful Pecan Grove Park, the RCC (as it’s commonly known) is a hub of exercise, sporting events, activities for all ages, and ample meeting space. As Mayor, I will press for a needs assessment for the RCC to determine what improvements are needed to stay current with the needs of our residents. With so many guests each year, city leaders are obligated to answer the call to support the RCC, and I stand ready to answer that call.
Parks & Green Spaces
Rowlett’s focus for the next 12-18 months will be rehabilitating our park amenities to ensure they’re functional, enjoyable, and most importantly, safe. As Mayor, I will work to ensure our park facilities receive the necessary funding needed to remain open and available for families to play, sports teams to practice, and athletes to exercise. I will also continue to strenuously advocate for the preservation of green spaces and tree canopies both in our existing park areas and within proposed developments.
Library
As a long-time proponent of the Rowlett Public Library, I will continue to support the community resources it provides. I’m also proud to have supported the fine-free initiative undertaken by the Library that passed with the FY2025 budget. Being fine-free allows residents to not be burdened by late returns, and even encourages materials that are long-overdue to be returned and placed back into circulation.
Other Thoughts
My focus on quality of life issues isn’t limited to these items. There are numerous ways we can all impact the quality of life for those living, working, and playing in Rowlett. It’s a conscious and intentional decision each day to make Rowlett a better place, and I look forward to you joining me on that journey!
